Package: aquamacs
Version: CVS

"Save Buffer As..." sometimes appears to *move* the visited file to a new
location with a new filename -- removing the original file -- instead of
simply creating a new file. This is out of line with standard OS X "save as" behavior. M-x write-file (called by `mac-key-save-file-as') does the
same thing.

Test cases:

Open an existing file in Aquamacs
Shift-Apple-S and give a new filename.
Result: old file is missing.

Open an existing file in Aquamacs
edit buffer.
Shift-Apple-S and give a new filename.
Result: old file is missing.

Open an existing file in Aquamacs
edit buffer.
Save with Apple-S.
Shift-Apple-S and give a new filename.
Result: old file is missing.

Open an existing file in Aquamacs
edit buffer.
Shift-Apple-S and give a new filename. (Old file goes missing)
edit buffer, or don't.
Shift-Apple-S (again) and give a yet different filename.
Result: previous file is NOT missing

Can others reproduce? Why the different behaviors here?
