Hi all,
since last version of ubuntu (11.04) modification of alpha frame
parameter with e.g:
(modify-frame-parameters nil (list (cons 'alpha 80)))
have no effect.
However it is working fine when set in .Xressources.
The xorg version is 1.10 (not sure as i am not on updated machine, verify).
In GNU Emacs 24.0.50.1 (i686-pc-linux-gnu, GTK+ Version 2.22.0)
of 2011-04-29 on thierry-MM061

Hello.
The code that sets alpha in Emacs was wrong, it made assumptions about window
order that isn't true for Compiz. It was a bug for other window managers as
well, as they shall copy such properties from the Emacs top level window to
any parent it may have put on the Emacs top level window.
Fix checked in for the trunk.

What does the line in .Xresources look like?
Emacs.alpha:80
It is possible that the resource changed in Ubuntu 11.04.
