Firstly my utils are a few years old, but this annoyance may still be in operation, not a bad problem BUT
cmp -s is NOT strictly silent it does send out 'line feeds'
So correcting the man page according should be done -or- fix the '-s' option
a strictly silent option would be nice if -s option needs to be left alone for backwards compatibility
