`delete-selection-mode' changed behavior in some ways since Emacs 24.3,
but I find nothing about any of the changes mentioned in any NEWS since
then. Please update the different NEWS versions to reflet the changes.
In GNU Emacs 25.1.50.1 (i686-pc-mingw32)

How did they understand this before?
This bug report says "please document changes to
delete-selection-mode". I have shown that what was documented before
was updated. You now say that its previous documentation was
insufficient, which is an entirely different issue.
> And we no longer announce deprecations? Except in code comments?
Most of the deprecations are indeed never announced in NEWS, you see
them when the byte compiler emits a warning to that effect.

I did.
