Suppose I have this buffer: ========================= void main(void) { int a; int a_b; } ========================= I move the point to the 'a' in 'int a', and invoke M-s . to search for the symbol 'a'. No other occurences appear in the file, but isearch erroneously sees all other 'a' as separate symbols. This happens regardless of the mode of the buffer.
