OK.

Do any developers here use setnu-mode?

Basically this provides vertical line numbering as glyphs.

The code has been rewriten a lot to work on Emacs 19.x, 20.x and XEmacs.

Currently it has "issues" with Emacs 21. In some situations it doesn't update
itself and in others it wraps the line numbering back onto itself (two glyphs on
one line).

So my questions are:

- - does it work for anyone successfully?

- - does the glyph approach seem logical? This kind of seems like a kludge.
Should it be implemented in C?

- - should/could the line numbering use the fringe?

- - if the glyph approach *is* logical, this should probably be rewritten for a
native Emacs 21 version. The code is very hacky (due to portability issues)
and I would not want to debug it.
