Francesco, could you please try the attached patch for the problem in
shell-mode?
I am trying, but I don't manage any more to build Emacs using `make
bootstrap', I suppose because something has changed in the makefiles.
As soon as I manage to identify and correct the problem, I'll test your
patch.
