Heh, good point.  I guess "they" are the people that want to never
loose data; the kind of people who like to think of user-created
buffers as "documents" as some word processors do.  And "documents"
are things to be saved.

I also think that the distinction between ephemeral buffers and
persisten buffers (ie with files) is pretty hard to grasp -- we
currently do not have a good user interface for this.  Now adding a
confirmation is one way to go about it.  Yes, it is annoying, but at
least it is safe.  A visual indication on the modeline might be
better, but I fear people such as the OP who complained about missing
auto-save for the buffers he created will not be satisfied.

So perhaps we need a new variable that controls this?  "buffers are
documents" or something like that.  :)  I vote this be default t, to
protect newbies.
