Good call. It is being selected, but it is not being highlighted. It is
highlighted in my SuSE built Emacs 21.1.1. I have found that it is _not_
highlighted in my 21.2 build.

Transient-mark-mode is, by default, non-nil in the 21.1 build. In 21.2 & 21.5
they are nil by default. Hmmmm. Something changed?
