Not by default, please, or at least provide an option to separate the
two behaviors. I want maintainer mode turned on so I get automatic
autoconf updates, but I most certainly do not want -O and inlining
turned off. Sure optimized code is occasionally annoying when debugging
-- but really only occasionally, and I'm quite used to dealing with it.
