Debugger entered--Lisp error: (invalid-regexp "Unmatched ) or \\)")
  string-match("\\`[

  list-diary-entries((1 22 2004) 1)
  view-diary-entries(1)
* call-interactively(view-diary-entries)

this appears to be caused by the 2004-01-09 change

(diary-entry-time):
        Also accept time in the form XX[.XX][am/pm/AM/PM].
