The `vkill.el' library is useful and should be included in the new
release.
Back in April of 1989, Kyle Jones wrote a new version of vkill, which
is an Emacs interface to `ps'. The name comes from your ability to
view and, if you wish kill, various processes. I have been using the
package for the past 15 years. Nowadays, I configure it to run:
ps -ewo user,pid,ppid,pcpu,pmem,vsz,rss,tty,stat,command --sort=pid
when I type `M-x vkill'.
As far as I know, this command is still not a part of the regular
Emacs distribution, either under a name involving `ps' or as `vkill'.
(I just looked.)
Kyle Jones is not on the CVS list of members, but he did write
`life.el', which is a part of the current distribution. It should be
possible to gain legal permission from him to use his work, if we do
not have it already.
When Kyle wrote life.el, his address was <address@hidden>. I have
also see his address as <address@hidden>, which has his
