locate.el

From: Luc Teirlinck
Subject: locate.el
Date: Wed, 2 Jun 2004 21:57:33 -0500 (CDT)

Below is my latest and probably final patch for locate.el.

The main visible changes is that the header now looks like:

  /:
 Matches for compdir:

Having ` /:' as first line is absolutely necessary when having
inserted subdirectories. Otherwise, dired-subdir-alist can get
corrupted and then things _really_ go wrong.

The patch below also corrects a problem unrelated to subdirectories.
Currently, locate.el has _two_ `;;; Commentary' sections. This does
not work. Currently the only documentation one gets by following
links after `C-h p' are some MS Windows specific technical details,
whereas the more general stuff gets ignored. I hardly believe that
this is intentional. The patch below combines both `Commentary'
sections into one and puts the OS specific stuff at the end.

I will finally commit after waiting still a while to see if there are
any objections to the final version.
