Renaming directories in dired between partitions

Hello!

It seems that it is not possible to rename a directory between differant
partitions in dired. For files everything works fine, but dirs fail. I
trace it back to rename-file ... when i try (rename-file
"/data/download/sacha-dev/a" "~/elisp/" t) i got the following error:

(file-error "Non-regular file" "is a directory"
"/data/download/sacha-dev/a")

If the problem is difficult to solve could that maybe at least be
documented?
