That is FALSE evidence!!!

The search:

  emacs turn off "blinking cursor" -info -xemacs

gives just 163 hits on google.

In comparison

  emacs turn off fringe -info -xemacs

gives 543 hits.

Please don't do that.  The Optoins menu is already too long.
