I've had the recursive load error about two weeks ago with the my own CVS snapshot. (It also occured with Debian's emacs-snapshot.) Removing loaddefs.el and building Emacs from scratch fixed it (i.e. something like make distclean; rm lisp/loaddefs.el; make bootstrap). It looks like this is not a newsticker but an autoload or makefile problem. ulf
