We will take a look at that.

    - edit the manual to shorten it, without losing content.

    The latter is not too hard.  There are many sentences that could be
    shortened or reworded without loss, after a cursory look through the
    manual.

I doubt that we would save more than a few pages this way in the
manual overall.  But it might be an improvement anyway.  So would you
like to look at a source file and propose such changes?
