Because I built Emacs and there wasn't enough pure space available...
The log indicated 1200696 bytes used, so I increased the base size
another notch to 1210000 (on GNU/Linux, SYSTEM_PURESIZE_EXTRA is zero).
I grant you that a 10,000 bytes increase for an overflow of 696 bytes
might be too much, but since the size keeps going up it's just preparing
for future changes...

As you may or may not know, since August 2005 I've been packaging weekly
snapshots of Emacs CVS for the Debian GNU/Linux operating system;
this gives me the opportunity to build Emacs automatically with a
variety of different configuration options and compiler flags every
week, so I catch these kinds of problems pretty quickly. I think the
overflow is caused this week by Bill's latest batch of changes to
Customize.

Since last October, image, international/fontset, dnd, x-dnd, mwheel,
tool-bar, emacs-lisp/syntax, font-lock, jit-lock, rfn-eshadow and fringe
have been added to the list of preloaded libraries. And other loaded
libraries have grown as well.
