Sorry, I don't understand your last sentence. If x-list-fonts returns
nil, Emacs will not start at all, it prints the above error message
and exits immediately (at least that's what happens on w32). So what
problem happens on X due to the fact that ``X server thinks that it
has the font -etl-fixed-medium-r-normal--17-*-*-*-*-*-iso8859-1''?
Or does Emacs start on X even though x-list-fonts returns nil?
