    That's what my patch does: the useful thing for (autoload . SYMBOL) is
    treat it like a defun, and the useful thing for (defface . SYMBOL) is
    ignore it.

Please install your patch.

    It seems correct, except that

    > !          (t (setq restore-autoload (cdr x)))
