Running Suse 10.0, my gtk probably is quite ancient and
I never remarked any difficulty from it.
CVS Emacs 22.1.50.1 (i686-pc-linux-gnu, X toolkit, Xaw3d scroll bars) of
2007-06-07
doesn't have this bug.
Recent build has. (Did ./configure without options)
