Very strange.  I edited the source and byte-compiled cus-face.el anew.
That didn't work, so I deleted the byte-compiled file and restarted
again.  It still didn't work.

Now I made an CVS update, applied the patch and rebuild emacs from
scratch and now it works. :-)
