23.0.50; tramp: re-connect causes timeout

I open a remote file with /scp:bob:/wi...., which works nicely.  After a
certain period of inactivity, I want to continue editing.  This means that I
have to wait for a short time.  This has always been the case (probably some
sort of reconnect).  However, with the latest CVS Emacs, I get a timeout with
the error message

tramp-wait-for-regexp: [[Regexp `^///7f88831a2b81f4b82a3b60f6fa5f10af
?$' not found in 10 secs]]

With CVS Emacs from May 2007, this error has never occured.  The remote file
I'd like to edit is on a GNU/Linux box, but it is itself a remote file on a
Windows server (made accessible with Samba).  Again, this hasn't been a problem
until now.

Increasing the 10 seconds in the lisp code to 60 seconds didn't help.
