cmdproxy shell freezes intermittently

Using emacs with auctex (and any other
shell commands) causes cmdproxy to freeze emacs.  Sometimes this can
be corrected by killing the cmdproxy process and restarting the shell.

When using the shell commands, emacs
freezes as well.
