Yesterday you sent a message saying you thought of eliminating `evaporate'.
And you went aheard and eliminated it--without waiting for a response.

Please do not be so hasty.

Perhaps eliminating it is the right thing, but that depends
on how much it helps to reduce memory usage.  I proposed
a fairly simple solution yesterday that would make it work.
