can't help it, think cells :) you are distributed.

Emacs development already uses a distributed version control system.

1. GNU Emacs @ savannah.gnu.org

Which is equivalent to the git repository linus-2.6.

2. Emacs.app @ sourceforge.net

3. Carbon Emacs http://homepage.mac.com/zenitani/emacs-e.html

4. Aqua Emacs http://aquamacs.org/

... others ...

Which are equivalent socially to the lieutenant repositories.

If you consider each of the CVS branches to be a DVCS repo, there are more as 
well.
Using a tool like git would simply make all of them compatible.
