I start with -q, move the mouse over the links in the splash screen, and
see faulty redisplay: the mouse-face highlighting is not everywhere
coextensive with the unhighlighted text, and in some instances leaves
remnant highlighting. These redisplay problems seem to result from the
highlighted text displaying the default font (here
-Misc-Fixed-Medium-R-Normal--15-140-75-75-C-90-ISO10646-1) without the
variable-pitch face (helvetica) of the nonhighlighted text in the splash
screen. This effect of mouse-face highlighting did not happen before
the unicode-2 merge. (It is also present in my last unicode-2 branch
build from 2007-12-20, as I just confirmed.)
In GNU Emacs 23.0.60.2 (i686-pc-linux-gnu, GTK+ Version 2.12.0)
of 2008-02-07 on escher
Windowing system distributor `The X.Org Foundation', version 11.0.70200000
configured using `configure '--enable-font-backend''
