Er, well, ok, that's the current binding of M-SPC... are you saying that
you think it should be rebound to something else?

I'm rather confused by what you _do_ mean.

Do are you saying you think that:

  (1) M-SPC should be rebound to something like
      "canonicalize-space"

  (2) "canonicalize-space" should insert two spaces if following a
      period and sentence-end-double-space is non-nil, otherwise it
      should insert a single space.

?

If so, it certainly shouldn't be bound to M-SPC, as that would interfere
with current users' muscle memory.

But if you mean something else, please describe.
