X resources for faces in emacs 23

Hello,
it seems as if the face definitions in my X resource file are ignored.
e.g. lines like:

 Emacs.font-lock-comment-face.attributeForeground: white

This works fine in older emacsen. Other definitions in the resource file
take effect. Only the face definitions are ignored.
This happens with CVS emacs from 8.7.08 (built under Solaris 5.8).
Do I have to specify my resources differently now or is this a bug?
