Latest CVS checkout -- line motion possibly broken

I've mostly seen this in comint like modes.

When on the beginning of a line, C-n in certain cases ends up at
the end of the line -- rather than at the front of the next line.

Ditto with previous-line in the other direction.

I've not been able to narrow this down to a specific example, but
I've now seen it in comint derived modes a few times. I believe
that I also hit the problem in nxml mode ---
