There was one just a few days ago on the Gnus newsgroup, which Katsumi
Yamaoka resolved by prior experience but otherwise would have been
really puzzling.  I've seen many like it.  The general problem of
shadowed paths is pretty pervasive and frustrating, especially since
users know many ways to add to the load-path.
