Sorry Stefan.  The can of worms is never too far away :-(

The decision is then that left, right, up and down do what their names imply, but Home and End do the same as C-a and C-e?

What is the "beginning-of-line"?  At the left, or the right, or "it depends"?

Likewise for "beginning-of-sentence"?

C-f moves right, and C-b moves left? Likewise for M-f, M-b, M-d, M-<DEL>? And what about C-d and <DEL> then?

C-k kills line to the right of point, or left of point?  Likewise for M-k?

Some unifying principle to arrive at all these decisions would be very welcome!
