Multiple overwrite queries from gzip for doc files in install

   After building from the trunk of the git version pulled at 21:41 UT
this evening, I did "make install" and got the following series of
interactive questions from gzip:

    gzip: /usr/local/share/info/ada-mode.gz already exists; do you wish to 
overwrite (y or n)? 

And similarly for the man pages; this after redirecting stdout & stderr
to a file.  Shouldn't the old files have been cleaned out?
