More on smtpmail.el

I built Emacs from the repo on a Lucid (Ubuntu) machine with the
right gnutls libs, and smtpmail works as advertized in the email
discussion -- it prompted me for authinfo and saved it --- on the
ubuntu Jaunty box, where emacs was built without gnutls -- it
fails, though that set up has external starttls support
configured.  On that machine, the olde rversions of smtpmail.el
still lets me send email via gmail
