I think Jim Meyering was doing the mirroring.
I'm not sure what kind of "step on each other" risk there is.
If you both use "git push", there shouldn't be any problem, right?
I'm asking because I think it'd be good to make sure that anyone can
pick up and update the mirror if your setup fails/disappears/... (this
has happened with Jim's mirroring, for example, tho of course that's
mostly because it was hand-updated).

I don't think there's much chance of that happening. Even savannah's
own "send commits to mailing-list" uses the "bzr-hookless-mail" so as to
avoid such a thing.
I don't think an hourly backup is a significant problem.
