gnutls.el has some in the comments:

;; (open-gnutls-stream "tls" "tls-buffer" "yourserver.com" "https")
;; (open-gnutls-stream "tls" "tls-buffer" "imap.gmail.com" "imaps")

Then you can just kill that buffer.
