There is a comment earlier in the code, next to the declaration
of 'abase'. It would help, I think, to encapsulate the ABLOCKS_BUSY
stuff better into new macros, that handle casting to intptr_t or
whatever, and which state the actual ranges of the results.
All this should wait until after 24.1 of course.
