Funding Emacs improvements in this way is a fine idea.
There are many sites that do this; let's not choose Kickstarter
without considering the others. In fact, if it is associated with
Amazon, that's a reason to prefer any other. (See
http://stallman.org/amazon.html.)
Issues to judge by include: does the site require users to run nonfree
Javascript?
Thee is no need to argue now about whether this method will work.
Rather than pretend we can predict such things, it is better simply
to try it and see.
