I've been using Mac Port since march and it is really great!
While NS port looks ugly, and works with problems (it has problems with C-g,
font rendering, modifier keys, multiprocessing, networking).
NS port may be used on GNUStep, but not on osx.

I don't. I'm using homebrew, and console version of emacs in /usr/local is fine
for me.
But it is nice to have it as an option.

Agree, GUI animation in Mac port is unnecessary. The less GPU, the more battery.
