An interesting experiment which may give some ideas for some future
form of giving incentives to emacs developers.

This project created an automatic service which gives money rewards
from the project donation pool for each merged pull request:

It seems to aim developers outside of the project team. In case of Emacs
it could be used, for example, to reward tasks which people usually
do not work on for fun ("janitorial work"), so core developers can 
concentrate on the harder tasks.
