Just for completeness...

I see that I can download the trunk source with

$ wget http://git.savannah.gnu.org/cgit/emacs.git/snapshot/emacs-trunk.tar.gz

but how I can identify it?

After unpacking it, the tree should contain at least a text file with a revision number or the SHA sum of the last commit... or not?
