Well, Glenn removed "side bars", which I think is a mistake, but I'm
not going to argue.

Btw, Glenn: you also removed @smallisp -- did you make sure that with
@lisp the example doesn't overflow the right margin in the printed
version of the manual?  That was the reason I used @smallisp: some of
the lines were too long.
