It doesn't count apart from the AUCTeX keybindings for a number of
Texinfo commands being the same as for the corresponding LaTeX commands.

But Texinfo is really quite different from LaTeX or plain TeX or even
Context, and texinfo.tex is used only for generating the hardcopy
manuals anyway.  If you want to mess with the internals of hardcopy
generation, TeX knowledge will be useful.  Or for debugging crashes.
But not for writing Texinfo documents as such.
