There is a format/practice/convention called RDFa (Resource Description
Format in attributes)[1] that can be used to add semantic information to
HTML pages in a machine readable form.

Perhaps that can be of help? Something that could be used by shr/eww
when navigating the pages?

Basically RDFa consists of adding the properties "property" and
sometimes also "content", to HTML elements. If there are no elements, a
piece of text can be surrounded by a <span> elment with "property" and
"content" attributes. The "property" attribute is a URL identifying a
property type, and "content" may be used to present a more machine
friendly form of the element content (e.g. the date in a more easily
parsed form).
