Hi Eli,

doubt if there is anyone now knowing all the basic code which runs Emacs.

OTOH maintainership --while requiring technical knowledge-- basically is 
decision making, ruling out at cases presented by the parties.

The ability to preserve some coolness even in heated debates seems much 
more important than technical knowledge in detail.
