Like discussed later, the current icon in the Emacs repo is balanced enough horizontally, IMHO. And your attachment does feel weighing a bit to the right (which may well have been the case in the original).
Even so, the slanted version looks decent, and, depending on the mood, I might prefer it.
Should we have a user poll sometime before the release?
