I agree with Mark Oteiza that the status quo is good enough. If we had more developers and could profitably work on 25.1 and 25.2 and 26.1 in parallel then the extra complexity and confusion of three branches would be worth it. But we don't have that many developers, and even working on two branches in parallel is a strain for us. I sometimes wish that we had just one branch, to be honest.
