font-lock-syntactic-keywords obsolet?

Hi,

for sometimes, appears a


Warning: `font-lock-syntactic-keywords' is an obsolete variable (as of 
24.1);
    use `syntax-propertize-function' instead.


However, having a look at syntax-propertize-function, it seems not ready 
for production - for several reasons.
