It is worse: those that think that the process makes things
unnecessarily difficult probably will never contribute and hence you
will never know about their existence, except for some passing comment
on some other forum.

That said, IMO writing (and learning to write) ChangeLogs on itself is
not a big deterrent to contributing (for small contributions!) Its
impact on the quality of commit messages is more concerning.
