The fact the ELPA likes the Elisp files to all be at top-level doesn't
mean we couldn't have a sumo-like thingy on top.
Actually "git pull .../elpa.git; make externals; make" followed by
adding the relevant dir to package-directory-list gives you already
something very similar.
